Hello to you all! The past week has been really hectic, hence, no time to read any blogs never mind throw together one of my own.
After the beautiful sunny weekend of my sons' communion day(some are still recovering from over exhersion on the bouncy castle) we've had a bit of a mixed bag on the old weather front (what's new for Scotland!). On Sunday I got absolutely drenched during my mad dash from the church to my front door (only two doors down and the reason why I didn't bother with a brolly or rain jacket). The kids thought it was great fun until they realised it was cold as well and began to shiver. Obviously, we couldnt go back out, so we spent the day slobbing on the sofa with a DVD (treasure planet and the ware rabbit).
It was my dads 60th birthday on Monday, so we were there in force with obligatory hellium ballons, pressies, chocolate (which he always dismisses as not wanting it, but then squirrels it away without so much as offering you a square) cake, candles etc etc. A word of warning on the candles front, we bought fancy gold coloured ones which looked the part but, if he had been any longer in blowing them out they would have been completely melted away. He had already been out for a birthday lunch the previous day and was itching to get to watch the snooker final (local guy - John Higgins won) so we were forced to cut the party short. A little selfish on his part I thought, but then my dad never was the most considerate of men.
Tuesday was an inservice day (YES ANOTHER ONE!) so the kids were at home with hubby while I went to work. I returned at 2.00pm to find them on the playstation (who needs clean clothes, dishes, hoovered carpets when crazy frog can be raced). Wonderful as my hubby is, he doesn't really multi-task. He will tell you that he either plays with the kids or does the house work, not both. It has the effect of making you feel guilty for not playing with the kids because obviously that is the most important thing. Why do dads always get to play "good cop" to mums, get washed, brush your teeth, etc etc "bad cop" or is this just in my house.
Before I forget, hubby has passed his qualifying exam in full and will receive his new salary from the end of the month. I am very proud of him as he has worked very hard for the past three years and deserves the recognition.
Last night, we the PTA, have finally held an activity which the parents and parish will support. PRIZE BINGO! Such was the frenzy of walking sticks and white permed heads for the best seats, that we were half an hour late starting because we hadn't put out enough tables and had to carry them down from the upstairs classrooms because the lower classes only have the tiny ones and we couldn't risk getting any of the OAPs stuck. We got loads of home baking handed in for the interval and for the first time ever WE HAD A QUEUE waiting to get in. This is truly unheard of. At the end of the evening we were congratulated on the fabulous prizes, the spread we had put on and the cost to get in (apparently cheaper than the church hall, so hopefully no noses have been put out of joint). Even better we have raised around £600 which is a great deal for our school and is a great boost to our target. We are aiming to pay for every child to go on the end of term trip for free (normally about £10 each). Pity we didn't know earlier that bingo is
is so popular.
This morning I am feeling a little pleased with myself and am off to lunch with my lovely hubby before the kids get home from school.
Take care, Jacqui x

OK Jacqui - I have *lots* I want to say to you re parties, shoes and socks game, things on your profile (did you know we're nearly the same age, when in August is your birthday?) but think it will be too long for this comment but can't find out how to email you. Of course, you may not welcome an email from me (and who can blame you?!) but if you don't mind, my email is Myrtlehogwash@aol.com. MH X PS Well done hubby and well done you for the fundraising!
Huge congratulations to hubby - well-deserved and great news for you too, Jacqui..... I love Treasure Planet and Curse of the WereRabbit...... but we're cursed with endless repeats of Goal! Aaaghhh.
My MIL is exactly the same with chocolate - 'Oh I don't eat it.....but oh alright, thank-you.....' and then off it goes to her bedroom and I swear she sits in bed eating it!!

Good news about your husband. Your wry comment about your dad made me smile. Inconsiderate? You should have met my father! His way or no way! But how we miss him now. All the best Jacqui!
Bingo - I guess it's a money-maker for schools all over the planet! I certainly worked at my share of school bingos.
Congrats to your husband - you must be so proud!
