Another busy weekend, I just don't know where the time is going. Hubby loved his bricklaying course and is itching to practice. The wash-house and a large tree (real shame) will have to come down first though.
Didn't sleep at all on Saturday night because hubby was nightshift and when I went through to bed I noticed lots of mice droppings right by my bed. Too late to phone my sister and disturb both our kids, I grabbed a quilt, shut the door (like that would stop them!!) and spent the night on the sofa, with the TV on. I tried putting it off, but the house makes so many noises at night, I was almost out of my mind. Sunday morning saw me bleary eyed and feeling like an idiot because on further inspection it wasn't droppings, but just little black pieces of rubber that had collected in hubbies trainers when he was playing football on an astro turf pitch. Thank goodness I have a doctors appointment because things are getting ridiculous.
Despite lack of sleep, I had a bit of baking(mars bar cake etc) to do for my nan's birthday. Hubby made soda bread and I dipped loads of strawberries in belgian chocolate and nestled them in little foil cases- they were really easy and looked great. She was 95 years young and looking fabulous, if a little fed up. Her eyesight is gone except for light and shade and her hearing isn't great although definitely selective. As well as loads of cards and enough flowers to stock a florist ( or a funeral parlour as her younger(age 92) sister pointed out) she got wonderful presents and vouchers towards her holiday clothes. She has her usual two weeks in Ireland booked and refuses to go with the same clothes she had last year (people have seen them!). This includes shoes and handbags. Still at 95, she can have what she likes.
Was working this morning and will be tomorrow as well and then thats me until Saturday. I have a new "to do" list and am hoping for the same success as my last one. I'll keep you all posted. Hopefully the weather will pick up (Scotland has been very overcast with some rain today) and I can get out and about as well.
Take care and enjoy your day/evening - Jacqui x

Hope I'm still stroppy about my clothes when I'm 95!! Hope the weather improves - and make that doctor's appointment!
Jacqui-I never seem to make any progress with my to do list!
Like the sound of the mars bar cake for your nan (bless her for looking fabulous and having an opinion about how she looks!)
My Nan is 89 and would complain bitterly that even though I had slaved away over the cake it would no doubt be too sweet and too chewy-(she still has all her own teeth!)
warm wishes
loved your nan ...where does she stay in Ireland?
Hi Jacqui. I'm ashamed to sey this is the first time I've caught your blog, but have read through them all now. You sound lovely and I look forward to reading more now Ive found you xx
I liked the sound of the Mars bar cake too! Thoroughly enjoyed meeting your nan - I hope she enjoyed her day.
Mars Bar Cake????? Please send more information about this!
Your Nan sounds just great - I hope I'm buying new holiday clothes each year when I'm 95!
I try not to have to do lists. Have you read Soft Time by Gill Edwards? I try and go with the flow. But I must admit I have written one today! It seems there is more to do in the summer because of the work outside as well as in. Your nan sounds just great as do the choccy strawberries and mars bar cake (I feel quite hungry and it's one in the morning!) Please post recipes. Does your nan stay in Sligo?
Caitx
Jacqui I forgot to say I can't find If not You by Dr Hook or by anyone come to that. Is that the right title? I did find Years from Now and have posted that, hope you like it?
Oh Jacqui, I love the sound of your nan. I miss mine sooooo much. She stayed with me long enough to see me married to J (9 years ago in 2 wks), go on honeymoon and come back to say our final goodbye. She was just as image conscious as yours! Wonderful.x
Whoops I have just left a comment on your diary blog, sorry!
Hello Jacqui,
I didn't quite know which of your blogs to comment on, so here I am!
Thank you for your kind comment regards our special family news :-)
